Review: NYX Cosmetics Ombre Blush + Swatches

By Trecee Hutchinson - 7:06:00 PM

If you can't tell by now, I absolutely love NYX. It's my favorite drugstore brand and I have been using it since I fell in love with makeup and beauty. Lately, NYX has been killing it with new product launches and I have been trying to try all of them gradually. I love everything I've tried with the exception of the Lip Lingerie. I reviewed that a few weeks back, but today I want to talk about the Ombre Blush.

The NYX website describes these as:
" aradiant flush of color ..With our Ombré Blush, a new gradient blush inspired by the ombré trend. This must-have formula features two silky colors blended into one perfectly coordinated shade combo. (It’s like they were meant for each other.)"

I ended up picking up one shade "Code Breaker", which is a bright fuchsia to a purple ombre color.
These are priced at 10 dollars and can be purchased on Nyxcosmetics.com or at your local Ulta.
Each blush contains .28oz of product.

Below is a swatch of the color in natural light.

Review
will be rating all aspects based on Pigmentation, Longevity, Packaging, and Performance on a scale from 1 - 5.

Pigmentation: 4

I think that the pigmentation of the swatch does no justice to the color of the blush on the cheek. As you can see from swatch the ombre is more pink than purple. It looks slightly powdery from the swatch, but that does not translate on the cheeks at all when the full on color is sheered out.

Longevity: 4
I wore this blush to work for about a week and also to a Mardi Gras parade and I found that the lasting power was about 5 hours during work and about 4 hours out in the element. I did not set my makeup with any setting spray so I think it would last longer with some setting spray over the whole face. My favorite setting spray is the All Nighter Spray from Urban Decay.

Packaging: 3
There is really nothing special about the packaging. It's the basic black cute packaging. My only con for the packaging would be the lack of true Ombre. This blush is mostly pink with a touch of purple at the end and there is not real fade from one color to the next, It was impossible to get just the purple color in a swatch. On the outer packaging the Ombre is more apparent then the actual product. That may just be my specific blush, but it was a little disappointing that there were no in between colors in the blush, I think that would have made the blush even more versatile.

Performance: 4.5
I really enjoyed the color of this blush. It blended easily and wasn't too pigmented where I felt that I needed to be light handed. Below is a up close look at the blush on my cheeks (NW45)

As you can see from the swatch, this blush gives the perfect flush of color and I really love the way it complemented my skin. I think that this color can be used by a variety of skin tones. I would just use a super light hand on lighter skin tones.

Final thoughts:

I really enjoyed this blush!! I think that it gives the perfect flush of color and if my collection wasn't overflowing with blush I would definitely purchase more colors. I think that at 10  dollars, it has a great price point for the amount of product you actually get.

Comment below if you have tried this blush or want to try it.I would love to know your thoughts!
