The Best Highlighters for that Spring Glow! Featuring Becca, Mac and more

By Trecee Hutchinson - 10:48:00 AM

One of the great things about Spring and Summer is the opportunity to wear less makeup. My makeup routine changes drastically in the summer because the humidity in New Orleans is like no other. I typically skip on foundation, unless its a special occasion and go for concealer and powder instead. I often also skip out on eye shadow and go for colored liners and highlighter in the inner corner and on my cheek bones.

Highlighter is one of my favorite parts about putting on makeup because a good highlighter will give a healthy and radiant appearance to the skin. Highlighters also add a little something extra to a toned down spring look. Today, I want to show you some of my go to highlighters for Spring and Summer

Mac Cosmetics "Gold Deposit" ($32):

This is the perfect golden bronze highlight. The glitter is also super fine and just melts into my skin tone. I love this one in my inner corner and lightly dusted under my eyes when I want an extremely dramatic highlight.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer " Ready to Go ($6):

This is a newer brand that I have added to my collection and is not technically a highlighter, but on my skin tone its a great nude highlighter. According to the Ulta website, this is described as a pink tone bronzer ideal for light to medium skin tones.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal ($38):

Opal is my holy grail highlighter for the Spring and Summer. It was the first Shimmering Skin Perfector I purchased and it has never let me down!! It is the most beautiful Golden Opal Pearl color and has some pink shifts in it. This powder is super iridescent and fine milled. It's super soft and has a really soft texture to it due to liquid binders in the formula I also use this to mix with darker highlighters for a little something extra. It is so pretty mixed with Gold Deposit or Becca's Topaz Shimmering Skin perfector. This one is a little pricey, but it's definitely worth the splurge in my opinion.

Ruby Kisses " Bronze Glow" and " Flushed Glow" (4.99):

L to R: Bronzed Glow and Flushed Glow

So, I came across these highlighters at the Beauty Supply store a while ago and they are such a good value. At $4.99, these are so comparable to the Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Highlighters. These have good staying power and can be used alone or even as eyeshadow. Bronze Glow is my everyday highlight for work and more often then not it's the color I have on my cheeks because of how well it complements my skintone. Below, you can see how close it is to Mac's Gold Deposit. It's not an exact dupe, but on the skin they look really similar and it is a portion of the price.

Comment below some of your favorite Highlighters!! My next highlighter purchase will definitely be the new Urban Decay AfterGlow Highlighters. I've had my eye on Aura since they were released.
