TBH, lately I've been feeling totally overwhelmed by my makeup collection. So much so, to the point where I haven't had any inclination to really add anything to my collection over the past month or so.
This little break from buying has given me a chance to really enjoy what I have and also clear out some space for new makeup because I was able to declutter my collection without immediately replacing the things I've gotten rid of recently.
I did however break my makeup fast on a recent trip to New York City, where I picked up a few Sugarpill Cosmetics products from Ricky's NYC.
Now if you've never heard of this brand, it's Cruelty free, mostly vegan pro brand based in California. Although, I never personally tried any of the products before this, a lot of the products get sooo much hype in the beauty community and on Youtube that it had been on my beauty wishlist for ages. From what I can tell, the brand is known for its super bright neon eye shadows and super pigmented loose pigments. Let's see if these actually live up to the hype though!I ended up picking up 5 items: 2 single eyeshadows and 3 pigments.
Chromalust Loose Eyeshadows ($14)
The Chromalust loose eye shadows come in cool little jars with white writing. They come in 16 shades and come in 4 g jars. I noticed that one of my containers had less product, but I'm more than sure that's because these are packed by weight and not volume. The only thing that's a little concerning for me is the lack of a sifter, so you definitely have to be careful to not spill this pigment when opening it.

Royal Sugar is a blue based pigment with purple glitter. It's so vibrant and the glitters really enhance the color of this shadow.
Strangeling a royal iridescent purple. I probably have a few pressed eye shadows in this colors, but I personally think you can never have enough purples so I'm not mad at this pigment. It reminds me of my old school Mac Pigment in Cornflower.
I personally love the versatility of loose pigments. They have much more flexibility than pressed shadows because they can be mixed with other colors for a custom shade and used for other purposes like to create a custom lip gloss or something. I love to use these pigments with my Inglot Duraline mixing medium for an extra punch of pigment. You can also use a little water or setting spray to get the same foiled finish that Duraline gives.
The only con for this formula is probably the fact that you can't escape fall out because of the loose nature of the pigments. Even with that, this formula is preferred for me because I love the color payoff and the fact that there's a little more versatility than a traditional eyeshadow.
Pressed Eyeshadows ($13)
The Sugarpill pressed eye shadows come in 32 ultra vibrant shades in every color of the rainbow. At about 4 grams, this shadow is more than double the size of a traditional MAC eye shadow.The first shade I picked up was Elemental Chaos is a shimmery medium deep purple. It has fine micro shimmers and applied smoothly to my eyes with a flat brush. This is an amazing lid shade and stays true to color when blended out on the edges.
I also picked up Velocity which is a matte true royal blue. To be completely honest, it doesn't swatch the best, but it is amazing on the eye. The color build up nicely and has good color saturation. This one also stays true to color and is the perfect blue for the crease in for like a blue monochrome eye shadow look. I was able to play around with this shade on my eye a little bit, but I haven't yet worn it out of the house yet.
Overall, these shadows come with an insane 3.9 g product and lasts all day with the same vividness as when first applied. They applied so smoothly on the eye. I had been looking for some darker shades to add to my collection and both of these were perfect addition. The blend ability of this formula is also really good and I was thoroughly impressed with how good Velocity in particular is. These also go on smooth and have minimal fall out which is perfect for me since I usually do my eye shadow after my foundation.

Final Thoughts
In both performance and pigmentation, these shadows definitely live up to the hype. My favorite formula is definitely the loose eye shadows, but the matte shadow formula is pretty poppin' too. The Best Eyeshadow for the Summer! My Favorite Small Palettes Feat. Nyx, Makeup Revolution and More

I feel like ever since Morphe became popular, huge palettes have become the standard in the beauty community. Personally, they tend to overwhelm me to the point where I end up just using something else. Small eye shadow palettes usually have a few advantages over larger palettes for me.
For one, smaller palettes are just that, small. Which usually make them perfect for traveling or just throwing in your bag for touch ups. There is no way I would ever leave my house with a Morphe or huge eye shadow palette, it's just not practical for me. Also, smaller palettes seemed to be easier to get a cohesive look for me. I don't like to have 5000 options for eye shadow, so having a choice between 5 - 12 shades makes pulling together an eye look so much easier for me.
Today, I will be showing off some the small palettes that I think will be perfect for this Summer and even transition into Fall.
Makeup Revolution #Slay Palette $8
If
you love affordable makeup and haven't tried out Makeup Revolution you are
really missing out! This brand offers a huge range of products and I must say
that a good bit of the ones I own are drugstore faves for me! This little slay
palette is no exception. It's tiny, offering only 10 shades with very small pans, but what it's lacking in size it makes up for in almost everything else! The
pigmentation is amazing and they also blend like a dream. I love warm tones for
this time of the year and these are really beautiful. Definitely worth checking
out!
Makeup Revolution Pro Looks Palette $10
This
palette was a surprise for me! I picked it up when I first tried out Makeup
Revolution and really wasn't wowed by
the color scheme. It's extremely basic in terms of the color schemes. It’s
literally just a bunch of cool toned neutrals and reminds me a lot of my OG
Toofaced Love palette. The thing that makes this palette stand out for me is
the performance. The colors blend like a dream and all of the single quads in
this palette work cohesively together to get some pretty decent looks,
especially for every day makeup. If you love cool tones, this is a must have and my
favorite thing about it is the price. It retails for only 10 dollars.
Wet n Wild Color Icon/ Black Radiance 8 pan Palettes - $4.99
These
little palettes are like my favorite drugstore palettes. They retail for like
five bucks and have amazing pigmentation. These are made for beginners and even
give direction for shadow placement on each shadow, but I still use at least
one of my palettes weekly. In my opinion, the dark shades are the best and are
perfect for intensifying any look.
Nyx Avant Pop - Art Throb - $16.99
This
Nyx palette is one of my favorite in terms of quality. The colors are so
pigmented and the color schemes are really easy to work with in terms of coming
up with full looks using one palette. Although I feel at 17.00 it’s a little
pricey, especially considering that Nyx is drugstore, I think that this palette
is a nice pop of color in my make up collection.
Absolute NY 5 Pan palette - $2.99
I
did a post on these a so long ago, but they ar like 3 or 4 dollars and are
absolutely gorgeous. Absolute NY is one of those up and coming brands that
aren’t sold everywhere, but the quality of the products are amazing and these

Naked
Cosmetics Urban Rustic Pressed Pigment Palette $19.99
I
received this little trio as a part of my April Boxy Charm Box and it is
perfect for anyone who loves shimmery earth tones. The only downside is that it
has no matte shade, but truthfully for the size of this you easily add in a
matte brown in the crease and have a complete look. Because of the shades, you
can also just use this shade alone on your eyes. All three tones have enough
depth to be just intensified through the crease to get a cohesive one shadow
look! I think these retail for like $18, but it is worth every penny in my
opinion. I have some swatches here.

So a few months ago, I talked about jumping on the Colourpop bandwagon and ordering a few products. Well since that review, I have acquired a few more shadows (Okay! A lot more) and I want to talk about my favorite shadows today and why I like them.
Now if you haven't heard of or have tried Colourpop eye shadows they are super pigmented cream/eye shadow hybrids. The texture is interesting in that they aren't completely a cream, but not really powder either. The actual product is soft to touch but applies with full opacity when applied to the eye. These also stay in place really well although I like to still use an eye shadow primer under these.
Colourpop shadows come in a few different formulas:Pearlized, Metallic, Ultra Metallic, and Matte. I will be focusing on the first three since I am super picky about matte shadows and haven't pulled the trigger on getting any of the matte ones. Although, while researching for this post, I read tons of reviews of people who like the matte formula. The other formulas are basically super pigmented and foiled. Perfect for lid colors and for bright pops of color in the case of the bright shades.
These apply best with fingers, although I use a flat brush for my inner corner because my nails are super long. Another tool you can use if you don't like using your fingers, is a sponge applicator, you know those things that come with cheap eye palettes. They pick up and spread out these shadows really well.
I also love that these are 5 dollars a piece, so you can afford to try out a wide range of colors. They also have periodical sales where you can save even more money. Recently, they began shipping Internationally so they are much more accessible to those outside of the US.
Anyway on to the Favorites...
Coconut (Pearlized)
This was the first eye shadow that I added to my cart on the Colourpop website. It is a gorgeous blue shade and is perfect for summer. This has seriously been my go to for summer looks!
Empire (Pearlized)
Empire is a gorgeous emerald green that has almost a duo chrome feel for it. I love this for a green smokey eye or to deepen up and add a little color to a neutral look.
Flower Shop (Pearlized)
This is one of the most gorgeous aqua colors because it has a grey silver shift. I love to use this shadow as a pop of color on my lower lash line and I always have people asking me about this when I wear it.It is a total game changer!
Porter(Metallic)
This is a deep wine color. It also has some light glitter flecks in it, but they don't translate onto the eye in my opinion. This shade is perfect for a one shadow look, because you can really deepen it in the crease to give your look a little dimension.
Midnight (Metallic)
As you can see from the swatch, Midnight is a blackened brown with gold glitter. I love this for a smokey eye with a little something extra. I also use it on my bottom lash line for some drama
Game Face (Ultra Metallic)
Ultra Metallic is the perfect description for this color. It is a super foiled copper color and I just absolutely love this for everyday and also for dramatic looks. I swear this is like liquid gold. So gorgeous!

Two weeks ago, I went to Atlanta for a Bachelorette party for one of my girlfriends. It was honestly one of the best vacations I have had in a while. While there, I was able to do a little shopping, which of course means I picked up some new makeup.
I was really proud of myself for not going too crazy, but I had to have the Kat Von D Metal Matte Eye Shadow palette ($60), after hearing and seeing so many people rave about this. Since the VIB and VIB Rouge sale is currently going on, I figured I would drop a review just in case anyone planned on purchasing it!

These eye shadows come in strangely huge packaging. The palette was much larger than I expected, but that not necessarily a bad thing, but its not travel friendly in my opinion. Each shadow is 1.7 grams and is a nice size. There is also a nice size mirror which is always a plus.As far as color selection of the palette, this palette offers some great neutrals with some pops of color. My favorites in the palette are defnitely Velour (matte blue), Oak (matte medium brown) and Flash (metallic yellow gold). I think that the colors pair well together, so this is definitely a palette you can use on its own.
Pigmentation 4.9
As you can see from the swatches above, both the metal and matte shadows in this palette swatch amazing! The Metal shades build up to full opacity in one swipe and the mattes were really smooth and not chalky at all. I was honestly wowed by the smoothness of the mattes so gorgeous.Performance 4.5
I was so impressed by most of the shadows in this palette. The metallics are super smooth and blended out like a dream on the eye. I also love that these apply to full opacity with a flat brush although you could totally use your fingers and still get a great effect. The matte eyeshadows also blended well and can be packed on the lid easily. The only thing that I didn't care for about this palette is that some of the metallics ( Glitz, Twinkle and Volt) kind of run together in my opinion. I wish there was little more color variety among the Metal Crush Shadows.Final Thoughts
I will make sure to insert a look I created using just this palette so you guys can see how well the shadows pair together. I think it came out nice and the shadows are really awesome quality and worth the price tag in my opinion. Although I wish there was some more variation in color tones, I still really love this palette and that definitely shouldnt be a deal breaker for anyone considering this.

I love a good sparkle. When it comes to eye makeup, the more metallic and glitter the better.
Last year, Nyx came out with a range of ultra metallic eye shadows called Prismatic Eye shadows. These are describes as Ultra Pigmented glistening eye shadows!
These eye shadows have easily become my favorite drug store formula. The things that I enjoy the most about this formula are:
Silky Smooth Texture
These shadows are super soft and apply to the eye really easily. They are easier to break, but personally I haven't had any issues with breaking, In this case, soft is definitely a good thing.Great Color Range
The original released featured 12 vibrant shades, but 12 more shades were just added to the collection. There are also a mix of neutrals and brights so there is a little something for everyone.Minimal Fallout
Typically with a softer texture shadow, there tends to be more fall out because softer shadows are typically more fragile. These don't do that though, I can apply to my lids without having eye shadow all over my cheeks when I'm finished.Super pigmented
Omg! These shadows are freaking amazing. There are no duds in this bunch. All of the shades I have are fully opaque and you don't have to do a whole lot of packing on which I love in an eyeshadow.Long Wearing

So about that No Buy.....
As much of a makeup addict I am, I tend not to jump on the bandwagon and try new brands and products out immediately. I remember seeing Colourpop eyeshadows pop up in the online beauty community a few years ago and I just never got around to trying it out because in truth it seemed kind of over hyped.
Makeup Revolution has fast been becoming one of my favorite drugstore brands. The palette that I'm going to show you today was my first purchase from the brand when I found out Ulta was going to be carrying the products, but I have purchased so many items since then.
I had not really seen anyone talking about these products, but I'm a sucker for clean black and white packaging and the products looked like they would be good, so I decided to grab one eye shadow just to try.
