I swear NYX products make up about 30 percent of my expansive makeup collection. Partly because of the price, but mostly because they launch new products so often and I have a little makeup fetish for trying out new things. I typically get my Nyx products from Ulta, but every now and then I place an otder on the Nyx website, especially when they have sales.


Every Nyx product is not a hit for me, but today I want to share some of the products I love and use in my everyday makeup routine...

White Eyeshadow base

People always talk about the Jumbo Pencil in "Milk", but I love this white base better because it so much easier to blend out and spread. This product is basically Milk in a pot form and makes bright eye shadows so much pigmented. I like to pair this with any eye shadow that needs a little something extra. Not only does this make eye shadows pop, it also prevents creasing and extends the wear of eye shadows like a primer should. This is a great base and alternative to a Mac Paint pot although they are not exactly the same. The paint pot has more of an intensifying effect, but this base is great for like 5 dollars.

Hi Definition Concealer Wand

Listen... if you see this concealer in the store and the colors match, you NEED to try this out. Hands down this is the best concealer at the drug store. It really reminds me of a high end concealer, because although the consistency is thicker it has awesome coverage and does not crease very easily. When set with a translucent powder, this gives a flawless finish. This concealer is definitely underrated and is only like 5 dollars. The only downside is that it only comes in like 8 shades including corrector shades but this stuff is so good.

Ombre Blush (Post)

Ughhh I love this blush so much. In the summer, I need a really pigmented blush because the sun is real in New Orleans and I get a lot darker. This blush is great because it's pigmented and the ombre effect makes it like three blushes in one. You can tone down the pink by adding purple, or wear either color on its own. My bestfriend also swears by the shade " Nude to Me" for an everyday contour color and she is about a NC42 skin tone. This blush also lasts all day and the texture is amazingly smooth, which I love. Wonder Pencil

The wonder Pencil is the perfect Nude pencil and comes in three different tones for every shade. It has three main purposes to conceal, brighten and line. I love this for my water line because it's a lot less stark than a white pencil, but still gives a brightened look. It's really smooth and creamy and can also double as a lip primer to use under a lipstick or as a spot concealer.

Prismatic Eyeshadows (Post)

Personally, there are only a few Nyx eyeshadows formulas I like. The Avant Pop eyeshadows are amazing and the Prismatic shadows. These are ultra metallic finish and the pigmentation is on point. I love the shade Mermaid because it is literally the perfect description of what you think of when you think about Mermaids, aqua duo chrome iridescent greatness. I can't wait until more shades are released.

Vivid Brights Eyeliner (Post)

I picked up this eye liner at the beginning of the year on a whim and this was such a pleasant surprise. First, the pigment of these eyeliners are sooo bright and vivid. The colors are absolutely gorgeous and actually translate on to the eye opaque and true to color. Second, the brush on these is amazing. It makes applying the liner so easy. After these apply, they set down to a matte budge proof finish. Perfect for eye art or a pop of vivid color. I actually have a full post and Face of the day using this eyeliner here.

Nyx Tame and Frame Brow Pomade

Before I took the plunge and invested in my beloved Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, I picked up this Brow Pomade and I actually was a really big fan of it. It is less pigmented then the Dip Brow, which is actually a really good thing when I am rocking a more subdued brow. It also has a slightly drier consistency but is still a good pomade, if you prefer a pomade but find that it's easy to over due it when using the ABH Dip Brow. This is also 8 dollars for about the same amount of product as the ABH product, which retails for $17. It's a good product, a good value and is extremely easy to use.

HD Pressed Setting Powder

I love this powder to set my under eye on days when I am wearing light makeup and I keep this mini version in my purse to use as a oil control powder throughout the day. This is a pressed translucent powder so it's not messy like loose powder. I have dry skin, so I don't get super oily but if I need a touch up I will blot this on my skin with a puff or sponge and it helps to maintain a flawless finish.

Matte Setting Spray

This setting Spray is my go to spray for everyday. It sets and prolongs my makeup and in the summer months, I have to have a good matte spray and this one keeps makeup set through sweat. Another use for this setting spray is as a spray to intensify the pigment of eye shadows. When I can't find or don't have Mac Fix + I use this as a substitute. I also have the Dewy version of this that I use on my dry days or to use with matte foundations to tone down the matteness.

June was such a busy month for me, work wise and I got to actually take my first vacation of the year to the happiest place on earth Disney World! This month, I tried a few new products as always, but I also pulled out a few old favorites

Beauty Products I Loved...

Mac Cosmetics Ruby Woo

This is my signature red lip. It looks so good on so many different skin tones and goes perfectly with almost any look. June was the month that I rediscovered this color and I literally wore this and 2 other lip colors in rotation. The retro matte formula sometimes gets a bad rep, but I actually enjoy the dryness and staying power of this color because I don't have to constantly reapply. This lasts through eating and drinking which never happens with traditional lipstick!

Nyx Liquid Suede in "Life's A Beach"

Lately, coral lips have been one of my go to lips. I picked up Life's a beach a few weeks ago randomly and I just fell in love with the color. This color looks good paired with blue liner on the bottom lash line.

Nyx Cosmetics Avant Pop Eyeshadow Palette in "Art Throb"

This palette has been my go to weekend palette for almost all of last month. In fact, it was the only one that I took on my vacation to Disney World. This palette is sooo pigmented and features a wide range of jewel tones and neutrals with a mixture of matte and metallic finishes. This palette was $17.99 which is pricey for Nyx, but so worth it. I will insert some swatches so you can see how awesome these shadows are.

Shea Moisture Volumizing Mascara

I found this mascara randomly at Ross in a little set and I was pleasantly surprised on how well the formula works. The brush has small bristles which makes this mascara ideal for bottom lashes. The formula consistency is also good in the fact that it's not to wet pr to dry and really helps to lift the lashes. This has been my go to mascara for the days I skip falsies or when there is only enough time for powder, brows and mascara.

L.A Girl Pro Concealer Orange Corrector

In the summer, I tend to skip foundation alot and go in with concealer and then set it with translucent powder. Concealer is a lot less pigmented than foundation so I always go in with this corrector first. I like this corrector because it's pigmented, last all day, really works and is like $2.50. I apply this on the hyperpigmented places on my face and put concealer and powder over it and get a perfect finish every time.

 

Jordana Lip Lights Lipgloss in " Hot Pink Blaze"

I just got this lipgloss a week ago, but it has literally been on my lips everyday. Jordana really hit the nail on the head with this formula. My lips have been super dry lately, so I've been using glosses more and for $4.99 this one is EVERYTHING! The color is amazing and its not too sticky or uncomfortable on the lips and lasts quite a long time. I am def going to give a full review on this and the other colors I got ASAP.

Maybelline Instant Rewind Foundation

 I reviewed this in a post recently, but this has been my go to everyday foundation lately. The color match is perfect and I like medium coverage foundation for daily use. I also don't get to oily with this foundation which is a plus for me.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I am an accessory fanatic. This month I have been keeping it casual and sporty and that translate into my fashion favorites this month

Nike Dri Fit Hats

I found these hat randomly at TJ Maxx after going to every Nike store in my city. These were so important while I was on vacation and in the sun for 12 hours a day. They do the job in covering my face from the sun AND keeping my scalp relatively dry, all why being so adorable. I also have a red one that is so cute with jeans, sneakers and a t -shirt.

Bow Choker Necklace

This neckalce came from Forever 21 and I have literally been wearing it every chance I get. I don't like to change jewelry that often and in the past I have not been a huge necklace wearer but the details on this one is so cute.

Spring is that time of year, where I start to incorporate color into my virtually all black winter wardrobe. Blush is that make up item that can really tie a look together and give the perfect flush of color.

Although I didn't get to blog much in March because of work, I still wore makeup almost everyday. I also bought so many new products this month and I all of them that I have tried so far. I honestly don't have a lot of products that I hate because I am very selective on what I spend my money on. I definitely want to take more chances as the year progresses and I was also thinking about subscribing to a few Monthly subscription boxes to be able to speak to a larger variety of things (Drop your favorite boxes in the comments below)

So I am so excited to share my February Makeup Favorites with y'all today.

I literally feel like February flew by, but I had some awesome times this month. It was Mardi Gras here in New Orleans, which is always fun, but I had friends in town this year so it was 10 times the fun this year. I also attended the Chris Brown Royalty Concert with my best friend on the 12th and we had a freaking amazing time. Chris Brown really killed the stage and I live for a good cocktail and some good music.

I am so excited to share my first official favorites post. 

January is typically one of those months where I try a lot of products because new things launch and I am typically also in the process of showing lots of my new Holiday products love.

Hi beauties! Welcome to my own little creative space. My name is Trecee and aside from my regular 9-5, I absolutely love make up. I am not a makeup artist, just a girl who wants to show you pretty things! You can look to me for honest reviews on high end and drug store products, as well as looks of the day.
I also enjoy cooking and going to events around my hometown of New Orleans, La. So i'll probably throw a little bit of that in there too. The way I see it, everyone needs a space to be completely themselves and I just want to share mine here!

1. Black Opal Beauty Flawless Concealer: This is the absolute creamiest concealer I have ever used. I use the shades “Honey” for a highlighted look and “Tan” if I want it to be super bright for special occasions. This does wonders for dark skin with some translucent or banana colored powder over top.

2.Maybelline Vol um' Express The Falsies Washable Mascara: The right mascara can take your eye makeup to the next level. If you already have longer lashes like me, then this mascara is for you. The volume it give is like no other for the price point. It has a wet formula, but as it gets older it dries and makes your lashes so voluminous and black. I typically wear false eyelashes when I wear makeup, and this also blends my real and false lashes seamlessly.

3. Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish: I’m one of those girls who HATES going to the nail shop because it just takes forever, especially on the weekend. I usually paint my own nails at home every few days and this is my favorite polish formula. There is a wide range of colors and the brush makes it super easy to apply. 

4. NYC Liquid Liner: So let me say this, I struggle with liner. I always mess up one eye or the other, but this product has made putting on Liquid Liner soooo much easier. Its super black and a steal at $2.99 or even cheaper if you wait for a sale.
5. Cover Girl Queen Collection - Ebony Bronze: Finding a bronzer when you are dark skin can be a struggle, but Cover Girl got it right with this product. It has a warm reddish undertone, but it warms up my face and I use it as a sort of pre contour. This is a good match for anyone who is a MAC NW45 or darker.

6. NYC Cosmetics Setting Spray - Matte Finish: Okay, so I must admit I am a diehard Urban Decay setting spray fan. But for every day I use the NYX setting spray, because Urban Decay is literally 30 bucks and this is $7.99. It locks my makeup in place all day, even through my lunch time workouts. Don’t sleep on this stuff, it’s cheap and it works.

7. L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation: I love this foundation. OMG, it has great, build-able coverage and it is Matte(although the product description is considered demi-matte). Pair this with an awesome powder and some setting spray and you are set for at least 12 hours.

8. Milani Rose Blush - Coral Crush: Milani has the best blushes. Coral Crush is the prettiest flush of orangy pink for the spring or even in the fall with a dark lip.
