NYX Unraveled Look Set

By Trecee Hutchinson - 2:20:00 PM

So over the holidays, I received the NYX Cosmetic's Unraveled Look Set as a gift and I wanted to have a little show and tell since I finally had some time to play in it this weekend. This is going to more of an informal review since I only got to use the kit twice this weekend.

From the Ulta Website:

Unravel the night with NYX Cosmetic's Unraveled Look Set. Let your inner vamp take over with a kit perfect for sultry eyes and winged liner! Finish off with their ever so popular siren matte lipstick.

Set includes:
  • Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean (0.18 oz)
  • Matte Lipstick in Siren (0.16 oz)
  • Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black (0.19 oz)
  • Unraveled Eye Shadow Palette (0.34 oz)

I took some swatches and photos of the products and I must say I was really impressed by the value and the amount of product that you receive. ALL of the items are full sized. That's hard to find in a Holiday set.

First up is the Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Black Bean" and Studio Liquid Liner in "Extreme Black".
Left: with flash, Right: natural Light. No Primer and one swipe on the arm.

I think that "Black Bean" is best as a base or at best in the waterline because once it set on my hand it did not budge like at all. The Studio Liner is super black and I loved it when I tried it in the look that you will see later on in this post.

The Eyeshadow Palette:
Top: Natural Light Bottom: FLash

I'm kinda Meh about this palette. The pigmentation is okay. I think that its in line with the NYX single shadows which aren't necessarily my favorite. I do think that they performed well on the eye, but some of the shadows are a bit chalky especially the cream matte shadow on the top left. I also feel like the gunmetal silver and the maroon are a little disappointing as far as pigmentation and blendability.

Finally, The lipstick:
Left: with flash, Right: natural Light. No primer and one swipe on the arm
OMG...this lipstick is beautiful. It's creamy, blendable and extremely pigmented. It is exactly the same as the regular matte lipstick line. If you haven't tried those, stop and run and pick up a color or two. The wear time on this is about 4 hours, but if you eat anything greasy or oily, you will need to reapply.

Here are some pics of a look I did using this set for work.
I used the gold color all over the lid, and the maroon color in the crease with a little of an warm orange brown shadow from another palette as my transition color. I finished off the look with the liner from the set and the lipstick. This literally came together in about 10 mins. I will update the post when I use it to create a more dramatic look at the end of the day
