 Recently I took a day trip to Baton Rouge to drop off some donations for the recent flood victims. After a long day of volunteering, my bestie and I decided to grab some lunch and do a bit of shopping. Today, I want to show some of the things I picked up and give a little mini first impressions. After I get some use out of this stuff, I will be doing an update to give a little more detail on how I feel about each product. If I love something, I will definitely do a post dedicated just to that product

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation ($39.50)

I picked this foundation up mainly because I recently broke my Lancome Teint Idole and because I had heard so many rave reviews about this product. It's supposed to be a 15 hour foundation that is heat and humidity resistant. With this humidity, I am sooo excited to try this and will definitely report back soon. I'm going to wear it everyday, just so I can make sure it does what it says.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Concealer in Deep ($24)

I would say that You tube made me buy this because so many of my faves were singing the praises of this concealer. When I first heard about it online my first thought was " Another holy grail concealer... I'll Pass", but then I went to Ulta. As soon as I swatched this, I understood why people were singing its praises. With light swipe, I was able to get full coverage and it blended out really nicely. I have worn it a few times and I like it, but I will definitely give an update on this.

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Bronze Glow ($46)

This was a total impulse purchase. I passed by the display at Dillard's and decided to swatch and after the sales lady tried it on me with a brush, I could not resist. OMG, why didn't you guys tell me Bobbi Brown Highlighters were EVERYTHING. This is glowy without being glitter. The finger swatches do it no justice. It doesn't look that pigmented, but it is absolutely perfect on my skin.

TooFaced Love Palette ($17)

 This ended up coming home with me because I wanted to get it during the Holidays and ended up passing. So when Nordstrom Rack had it $17 bucks, it was a no brainer. I also love that this palette is inspired by love letters. Romantic themed things really get to me and the packaging is gorgeous.  There are 15 shades split up into three combinations as well as big mirror. I swatched these without primer below, but to be honest it wasn't that impressive. I won't get too judgy until I actually try this out on my eye and with primer. It's a pretty neutral palette overall, so I hope this doesn't disappoint. This will probably become a travel palette or a new addition to my on the go makeup bag, because the shade selection is very versatile and wearable.

 

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Bronze Glow ($46)

Kat Von D Shade and Light Blush in Bonnie + Clyde ($6.99)

I picked this up on a whim at TJ Maxx and I already feel a little meh about it. I think that the colors are pretty, but the pay off is way to soft. This was honestly so hard to swatch and had to be really layered on to even get what you see in the picture below. The light color also screams ashy! It has not been used yet, but I think this may be a fail and will probably be going right back to the store (because I have no shame about returning things) or given away. I am going to try it first, but I just read a few reviews and won't get my hopes up.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Matte Bad Blood ($10)

I purchased this as a back up to my original. It was 10 dollars at Nordstrom Rack and a total steal. It is a blood red color and the texture could best be described as a creamy matte. If you haven't tried Urban Decay Lipsticks you are missing out. I cannot wait to get my hands on some of the new Vice Lipsticks, but in the mean time back ups of the old formula works just fine.

Bare Minerals Ready SPF 15 Touch Up Veil in Translucent ($23)

I also picked up this translucent powder on a whim and OMG I love this. It has a gorgeous finish and is perfect for setting the under eye. When I saw it, I feared it would be ashy on me, but its truly translucent and clear. It also controls oil like no other and is on deck in my purse as we speak. I look forward to doing a full review on this because its actually one of the first Bare Mineral products I've picked up that I have loved.

Although I didn't get to blog much in March because of work, I still wore makeup almost everyday. I also bought so many new products this month and I all of them that I have tried so far. I honestly don't have a lot of products that I hate because I am very selective on what I spend my money on. I definitely want to take more chances as the year progresses and I was also thinking about subscribing to a few Monthly subscription boxes to be able to speak to a larger variety of things (Drop your favorite boxes in the comments below)

The hottest trend this spring is pastels. Now personally, I can't pull off pastel eyeshadow because it looks ashy on me. I can, however, get away with a pop of pastel on my eye in the form of eyeliner.

As Spring is rapidly approaching, there so many new beauty products launching. Since, I can't buy everything because you know, bills and other grown people problems I have decided to create a wish list of some of the new products I definitely want to pick up.

Sundays are typically a super lazy day for me. If I can avoid it, I literally will not get out of bed. Yesterday, I had a few family events to attend so of course I decided to do my makeup and try out somw new products in the process.

A few weeks ago, I placed an order on the NYX cosmetics website to try out several of their new lip products. I just couldn't resist after swatching these out in Ulta the other day.
 Today, I am going to be reviewing the new Ombre Lip Duos that came out with all of the new 2016 product launches.

The day after Christmas is always a relaxing day for me. I usually spend my day shopping and catching up with friends and this year was no different. When I walked into Ulta, I noticed a display

This past Sunday, I was browsing my local paper and saw that Revlon was 40% off at Rite Aid. So of course, the hoarder in me got in my car immediately and went straight there to check out some new products. In the end, the display in my local store was wiped out and I only ended up getting two of the new Ultra HD matte lipcolors.

I absolutely love Stila Cosmetics. I purchased some of their Holiday 2015 collection in November and I have been obsessed with their Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in " Patina" and "Como". So I was more than thrilled when I saw a post on the Stila Instagram page about the Spring 2016 Collection.

The collection features a range of new products like the Aqua Glow Serum Concealer ($27) and Foundation ($45).



The Concealer comes in 8 shades and is described as an ultra-smooth, ionized water based concealer that blends seamlessly into skin for natural-looking, nearly invisible coverage. The luxurious serum texture instantly conceals dark circles, blemishes and other skin imperfections, melting into skin without caking or settling into fine lines.

I am interested in feeling the texture of this to see if it truly has a serum like texture. This item I definitely have to give a try.

The Aqua Glow Serum Foundation ($45) is described as a Radiant, weightless coverage. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that offers a new way to instantly smooth, blur and perfect skin. It also has a radiant finish, which I interpret as Dewy. This foundation comes in about ten shades and the good news is that about half look WOC friendly.

According to the Stila website the benefits include:

• Caramello (Neutral Nude)
• Chianti (Deep Plum) 
• Bacca (Raspberry)

So I remember around 2006 when I was first getting into makeup and I just wanted to try everything that I could get my hands on and could afford, I stumbled across NYX cosmetics. Does anyone else remember those OG NYX trios and those square single eyeshadows. I swore by those at the time and even in 2016 NYX never seems to let us down with the new product launches.

The day after Christmas, I found myself in Ulta (like a true hoarder) and came across a huge three tier display of new NYX products.

Some of the new 2016 launches include:

 Full Throttle Lipsticks ($6.99)



These lipsticks are a saturated matte lip color that has a special bullet shape that is supposed to help with edging and lining the lips. I ended up picking up the shade "Con Artist" which is a brown toned red. I am still in the testing phase as far as the formula, but I can say that these are super pigmented and is more of a creamy matte.


Ombre Lip Duo ($11.99)


This is actually a really cool concept from NYX. This basically a satin matte lipstick and lip liner duo with paired colors to create a ombre lip combo. From the swatches I took in the store, the formula is super creamy, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend 11.99 on this. I got one just to try and because honestly I just couldn't leave it in the store. I live for a good pink.


They also came out with new shades of the much loved Soft Matte Lip Creams, the Intense Butter glosses and the matte lipstick line.
